Understand the basics of Project Management. Microsoft Project allows its users to set realistic goals for project teams and customers by creating schedules, distributing resources and managing budgets.
This course is designed to equip the new user with the basic concepts of Microsoft Project. The user is taken through every stage of project creation and set-up, including input of task data, precedence relationships, setting constraints, inputting resources, using calendars, printing and managing the overall progress of the project.
Delegates should also book Project level 2 to gain a thorough understanding of Project.
This is a day one of a two-day course running from 9:30 am - 4:00 pm.
Training is hands-on and tutor-led.
We provide a comprehensive training manual, lunch and certification.
Courses run at both Swansea and Cardiff locations.
This course can be run as a company specific option either at your site or our own.

Getting Started
Screen familiarisation. Getting help. Setting the start date and creating a base calendar.
Input of Task Data
Inputting task names and their duration using Gantt
entry view.Resources
Creating a resource list and assigning resources to
tasks.Printing
Printing the project using different views.
Precedence Relationships
Specifying predecessors and the form of relationship.
Setting Constraints
'As soon as possible', 'as late as possible', 'must start
on', etc.Lead and Lag
Overlapping and delaying tasks using lead and lag.
Costs
Assigning fixed and variable costs.
Calendars
Modifying base calendars; specifying working and
non-working days and the length of the working day.
Using resource calendars.Managing the Project
Tables and filters, displaying free slack, setting the plan, entering actual information, comparing planned,
scheduled and actual details.Prerequisites
To gain maximum benefit from this course the delegate should be familiar with using a PC and be able to use a mouse.
Qualification
This course covers material from the European Computer Driving Licence syllabus and contributes to an ITQ qualification.
