Introduction to Sage Accounts Course Objectives
This two-day course introduces the basic concepts of computerised accounts and takes the user through creating and listing Sales, Purchase, Bank and Nominal accounts and the planning that should precede these actions. The entering of sales and purchase invoices and processing of sales receipts, purchase payments and monthly statements are covered in detail, followed by in-depth analysis of available reports. The importance of back-up routines is explained.
The second day builds on the concepts covered on the Introduction to Sage Accounts course. This course covers more advanced concepts used whilst running a business such as dealing with the bank, monitoring stock, maintaining accurate VAT returns, stock management, creating and customizing reports. Study automated features and use the task manager.

Using Sage
A guide on how Sage software is used and how the screens are presented.
Setting Up
A general discussion of the preparation needed prior to computerising your accounts.
Creating Accounts
The user is taken through the steps involved in creating and maintaining Sales, Purchase, Bank and Nominal accounts.
Invoicing
Batched data entry of purchase and sales invoices. Sales invoice production and printing or emailing.
Receipts and Payments
Recording sales receipts, purchase payments and bank and cash transactions.
Error Correction
Correcting errors made during data entry and retaining the integrity of the audit trail.
Data Verification & Backup
The importance of data verification and backup routines.

Review
A brief recap on topics covered on day one.
Bank Reconciliation
Reconciling the bank account in Sage with the statement, managing errors and omissions and identifying unreconciled transactions.
VAT Return
Producing and submitting the VAT return including the VAT transfer journal.
Creating a Stock System
Setting up products and a stock control system..
Purchase Order Processing
Managing Purchase Orders and updating ledgers.
Invoicing from Stock
Creating product invoices; printing and emailing the invoices.
Updating the Ledgers
Ensuring invoice balances appear in customer accounts.
Printing Reports
Customer statements; stock control, Balance Sheet Profit and Loss and Trial Balance reports.
Report Designer
Customising reports and their properties.
Automated Utilities

Introduction to Sage Accounts Course Details
This is a two-day course running from 9:30 am – 4:00 pm. Courses run in Swansea and onsite.
Prerequisites
To gain maximum benefit from this course the delegate should be familiar with using a PC and be able to use a mouse.
