Advanced Excel Training – Course Objectives
This hands-on, tutor-led Advanced Excel training course is designed to enable the proficient user to gain extended use of the spreadsheet package. The day starts with a brief review of commands covered in the Introduction to Excel – level 1 and Excel Intermediate – level 2 courses, followed by an in-depth look at some of the high-level tools of this package, such as Scenarios, Auditing and Solver. The course covers conditional formatting, creating templates, data validation and data analysis tools. Delegates will learn how to design and edit templates. Delegates will take a detailed look at creating and using simple and complex macros to enhance spreadsheet efficiency.
Advanced Excel – Course Contents
General Review
General review of existing knowledge and the commands covered in Introduction to Excel – level 1 and Intermediate Excel – level 2.
Goal Seek and Solver
Finding values for one or more input cells to optimise the value of a formula.
Scenario Manager
Setting up a scenario; switching between scenarios.
Auditing
Error checking.
Data Validation
Creating comments and defining valid cell entries.
Templates
Creating and saving a template.
Conditional Formatting
Setting and using conditional formatting.
Macros
Creating and running macros; assigning macros to buttons, keystrokes, menus and toolbars.
Hyperlinks
Using Hyperlinks to move to specific cell references in spreadsheets.
Advanced Excel – Course Details
This is a one-day Advanced Excel training course running from 9:30 am – 4:00 pm. Courses run in Swansea and on-site.
Prerequisites
To gain the maximum benefit from this course, an attendee should have attended our Introduction to Excel – level 1 and Intermediate Excel – level 2 courses, or have an equivalent understanding of Excel, especially the use of formulae, functions and multiple worksheets.
Qualification
This course covers material from the Advanced International Computer Driving Licence and the Microsoft Office Specialist Expert Excel syllabus.
